Nasal tissue growths
Nasal polyps are soft growths that develop from nasal and sinus tissue. They often occur in groups, like a bunch of grapes. Unlike other polyps, nasal polyps are NOT typically associated with cancer. Still, if large enough, they may cause significant nasal congestion. Decreased sense of smell is often present. Polyps may or may not be associated with known allergy triggers. Surgery may be indicated if symptoms persist despite medical management, though polyps will frequently recur.
Fortunately, most patients can manage their symptoms with aggressive medical treatment.
